Martial Arts
They are excellent physical activities. A good means to increasing fitness and good health. By improving cardio vascular fitness, increasing the strength of muscles, joints and ligaments, restoring and increasing flexibility. They also promote feelings of wellbeing by increasing self confidence and self esteem. Taking the health benefits aside the really good thing about training in the martial arts is they are fun and challenging both physically and mentally. The techniques need good proprioception (The ability to sense the position and location and orientation and movement of the body and its parts) but with patience and practise it can be mastered, in my experience the students that find it hardest but persevere eventually become the best teachers and exponents of the arts. Having the patience to keep going and reach that point transfers to their daily lives making them more successful in other areas of their lives.
The Academy offers a variety of different martial arts to suit everyone. For those wanting to learn how to defend themselves there are the Fighting Arts classes. For those wanting a hard physical workout there is the Kickboxing and Boxercise. Then for those that need to learn to relax and de-stress there is Tai Chi.
