 Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

This course requires the candidate to have a minimum of a certificate in Emergency Response First Aid (Life Support skills). It reviews and practices current CPR skills and then introduces the use of the Automated External Defibrillator.
 
Content:
Review and practise of CPR.
The heart and the circulatory system.
Heart conditions and defibrillation.
The chain of survival.
The AED and its use.
 
Duration:
Half day (3 hours minimum)
 
Cost:
£30 (minimum of 6 required)
 
Assessment:
Students knowledge and skills are assessed by completing a written multiple choice test paper at the start and end of the course followed by a practical assessment in the use of the AED. It is recommended this course is repeated every three months.
