12-June-10: Ten members of the Academy took part in Leigh Becks Junior School Summer Fate on Canvey, They put on an excellent display well done to the kids.

04-May-10: The last of our party to the Philippines arrived home on Sunday morning, their two week stay ended up being a month. One silver cloud is Martin Sillitoe, who was made an instructor of Nickelstick (Balintawak) Eskrima under Grand Master Nick Elizar while we were all still there managed to get an extra two weeks of extensive training under the Grand Master. Congratulations to Martin on being made a full instructor and the UK representative of Nickelstick Eskirma.

27-April-10: After a successful trip to the Philippines which was extended for a further week thanks to the ash cloud from Iceland, I have changed the class on a Tuesday and Thursday evening from 8 till 9. From now on it will be a Filipino Martial Arts class where we will study the exciting stick and knife arts of the Philippines.

20-Feb-10: Chinese New Year at the East Gate Centre in Basildon. Simon will be leading a display of the martial arts from the Academy from 11 till 12.

19-Feb-10: Starting from today there will be a thought of the day on the home page. This thought will also be permanently recorded on the thoughts of the day page.

24-Dec-09: Merry Christmas everyone and a safe, happy and health New Year to you all. Opening times during the Christmas period are 24th - 28th December closed Open for Fighting Arts classes at 7pm and 8pm on Tuesday 29th December and Kick boxing classes at 5.30pm and 7pm on the 30th December. Closed on the 31st till Monday the 4th January 2010 when classes will start as normal. New ladies only Boxing class starts at 8pm.

17-Nov-09: Bob Breen officially opened the Academy tonight. He then gave members a great seminar, showing why he is one of the top instructors in the world. After pictures and Champagne, we retired to the Festival Leisure Park for a lovely meal and more great conversation.

05-Oct-09: Three instructors of the club attended Bob Breens Instructor Group in London. Bob is the man responsible for bringing Filipino martial arts and Jeet Kune Do (Bruce Lees art) to Europe and has been Steve's main instructor for over 30 years.

04-Oct-09: Martin Sillitoe, one of the clubs senior instructors, took two Bronze medals in the WEKAF European Championships in Bristol. Well done Martin.

07-Sept-09: New early evening Kick boxing classes started today. The classes start at 5.30 till 6.30 on Mondays and Wednesdays.

29-July-09: The Academy is moving location this week from the Cranes Farm Road where we have had a successful two years to a Burnt Mills. The full address is: Essex House, Josselin Road, Burnt Mills Industrial Estate, Basildon, Essex. SS13 1EL. The new studio is bigger with more facilities and easier parking. Our thanks go to Joe the owner of Oakdene Autos who made us very welcome and will still be a good friend to the Academy. Oakdene Autos is a great place that you can trust to get your car repaired. 
28-July-09: Simon Merrett, a senior instructor at the Academy graduated from The University of Greenwich today with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science. Well done Simon.
